The New Outlook for the GOP in the 2018 Midterms

With the 2018 midterms on the horizon, many prominent members of the GOP are starting to feel the pressure. Past results alone dictate that the party in control of the White House tends to lose seats during the following midterm election. This is due to the simple fact that the party not in power is fired up and determined to change the status quo while the party in power is content and complacent.

However, As Reince Priebus pointed out in a recent interview with Fox News, there are several factors that could favor Republicans in the 2018 midterms.

One of the biggest of those factors is tax cuts and the Democrats’ commitment to doing away with them. This is an agenda that Democrats have yet to waver from in spite of the fact that most Americans are in support of the tax cuts.

Another big issue that could help the GOP in 2018 is gun control. Nothing drives people to the polls quite like support for the Second Amendment, and with Democrats all over the country fighting to greatly restrict Second Amendment rights, there are plenty of people who will likely be fired up about preventing this from happening.

All in all, it’s difficult to say how the midterms will go for the GOP. However, there is certainly reason to be hopeful. For Reince Priebus’s take on the GOP’s outlook in 2018, be sure to check out the video below.
