Tucker: Mexico MUST to be Punished for Illegal Immigration
The United States is facing an immigration crisis unlike any that we have ever faced before, and there is plenty of blame for this crisis to go around. Congress, particularly House Democrats, share much of the blame due to their unwillingness to pass the legislation necessary to solve it. Just as much of the blame, however, belongs to Mexico.
The majority of illegal immigrants entering the United States are from Central American countries other than Mexico, yet they all must pass through Mexico to get here. This means that the Mexican border should be America’s first line of defense against illegal immigration. Thanks to Mexico’s lax approach to illegal immigration, though, the country hasn’t been much help to the United States at all. Instead, Mexico has actively encouraged illegal immigration to the United States by purposely sending its poor and unemployable citizens across our border.
Now, President Donald Trump has given the president of Mexico a harsh ultimatum — either crack down on illegal immigration in his country and help halt the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States, or face a 5% tariff on all imported goods starting June 10. If the situation does not improve, this tariff will increase by 5% every month.
Critics of President Trump see this as an unwarranted attack against Mexico, but the country is actively encouraging illegal immigration into the United States and must be penalized for doing so.
