Are Democrats Too Left for the Liberal Media Now?
It isn’t often that those in the liberal media question or express concerns about the Democratic Party. By and large, liberal media outlets and the journalists at their forefront can be counted on to parrot the Democratic Party’s talking points and applaud their every move. However, even they are starting to raise eyebrows at the party’s current direction.
In a movement that was largely kicked off by the shockingly successful 2016 campaign of Bernie Sanders, the Democratic Party’s gentle leftward drift has suddenly turned into a sharp left turn. Right now, over half of the 2020 Democratic field is comprised of candidates that would be considered to be to the far left of the political spectrum. Only a few of the potential 2020 Democratic candidates are what you would describe as moderates, and one of them is facing some very campaign-damaging allegations regarding creepy and inappropriate touching. This is combined with the fact that several of the party’s most popular and well-known politicians are far-left socialists.
This hard-left turn has many in the liberal media a little concerned about the direction that the party is taking. They were on-board for a gentle drift to the left, but many of them might not yet be ready for the downward plunge into socialism that the Democratic Party is taking them on.
