Are We Finally Done Hearing About Colin Kaepernick?

Former NFL bench-sitter Colin Kaepernick, who we were told just wants to play football after being booted from the league on the heels of substandard performance, can’t seem to stay out of the headlines.

Granted, we’re not helping with this post. We didn’t help when we first reacted to the former third-string quarterback’s “take a knee” protest years prior. But, his story was part of a broader conversation on how political our sports media should be, and whether or not sitting out standing for the national anthem is an effectively way to draw attention to institutional racism, police brutality, or whatever else.

It doesn’t even matter at this point, because Kaepernick’s actions since being kicked from the NFL show us exactly what he was after from the start: publicity. The would-be football star signed a very lucrative contract with Nike, which was happy to parrot the mainstream media narrative that this poor, overpaid athlete was somehow being oppressed.

But the tide is turning in the other direction for Kaepernick, who may finally be seeing his fifteen minutes of fame dwindling.

Here’s the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh with more on the story.
