Many of the topics and events we discuss on this site revolve around the premise that left-wing ideologues fail to understand the arguments of their opponents and use intellectually dishonest debate tactics to make up for their weakness when it comes to reasoning.
Okay, we’ll admit, that sounds extremely biased. But we’re honest, and we wouldn’t think this way if we didn’t have a very strong impression that this is the nature of American politics. We can’t exactly say the same about major outlets like the BBC which bill themselves as being neutral.
Every day, we see examples that just make the left look so bad and so uniformly unskilled at argument, that we feel like everyone should be on our side of the table by morning. We saw a great example of this when on two occasions the left tried to tar and feather Milo Yiannopoulos.
The first time was when he criticized the new Ghostbusters movie. He was called racist for calling Leslie Jones ugly. His critics completely ignored the fact that he points out the deeply racist stereotypes portrayed in that film. And they did it again later when the details of the sexual abuse he suffered as a child gave them a reason to call him a pedophile — never mind the fact that a segment of the left is actually trying to normalize pedophilia.
Another great example recently came out of the debate between Jordan Peterson and BBC4 host Cathy Newman. She employed all of the standard re-frame and shame tactics of the left and, when she lost the debate spectacularly, went on a campaign of blame placing.
