One of the most important goals of the Democratic Party has now become a goal that the American people no longer support.
According to recent polling, support for impeaching President Donald Trump has reached an all-time low among Republican, Democrat, and Independent voters alike. This drop in support for impeaching the President is no doubt due to the results of the Mueller investigation, which found no evidence that Trump has committed any impeachment-worthy crimes. However, many members of the Democratic Party continue to push for Trump’s impeachment nonetheless.
Under the Trump Administration, the United States is thriving. Our position on the world stage has been bolstered, and our economy is excelling in ways that it hasn’t since before the 2008 recession. These alone are reasons enough to keep most Americans from wanting to see Trump impeached. The fact that the Mueller investigation found him innocent of all charges, though, has closed the door on impeachment for good.
At this point, Democrats who continue to push for impeachment do so at their own peril. Impeachment is something that the American people no longer support, and the window for successfully impeaching Trump closed the minute Muller released his final report. Any further attempts to impeach the President by House Democrats will result only in them losing even more support.
