Polling Expert Explains What Trump NEEDS to Do to Win

The 2016 presidential election may very well go down as one of the most fascinating case studies on American electoral politics. This was an electoral result that should never have happened, but did anyway. All the rules were broken, and almost no one — especially in the media — was really prepared for what we all know happened.

Going into 2020, the question for President Donald Trump and his supporters is whether or not the same tactics will work again. In fact, you could make the argument that it wasn’t really Trump who won at all — rather, Hillary Clinton just lost by being so astoundingly arrogant and foolish in her own campaign strategy. Seriously, why the hell did she skip out on Wisconsin? Has she every actually met a steel worker from Ohio before?

Trump’s electoral prospects for 2020 always seem up in the air. While it’s hard to picture any of the Democratic candidates actually beating him, he still trails them in most major polls. Now, if you’re a Trump supporter, your instinct may be to simply disregard polling data, and you could almost be excused for doing so. After all, almost all of the polling was horrendously flawed last time around, so why should 2020 be any different?

Make no mistake, while we certainly want a repeat of the same result, this is a different election. Unlike in 2016, Trump has a real record to run on now, and this can work for or against him. There’s also the impeachment fiasco, which throws all possibilities into the mix.

Here’s polling guru Frank Luntz and Ben Shapiro with what Trump really needs to do to win re-election.
