President Trump Announces New Immigration Plan
Despite what those on the left would have us believe, President Trump is not against immigration. What he is against, though, is allowing immigration that hurts the US economy and US citizens.
Now, President Trump’s new immigration plan is designed to improve how beneficial immigration is to the United States without reducing the number of immigrants who are allowed in.
Right now, around 12% of immigrants accepted into our nation are admitted for employment based on their skills while 66% are admitted because of family ties. Under Trump’s new immigration plan, though, 57% of immigrants would be admitted based on their merit or skillset, while 33% would be admitted based on family ties. This new plan does not reduce the number of immigrants allowed, but it does change the ratios of those who are admitted.
This new plan is simply the latest example of Trump placing the priorities of America above all else. If we are going to admit immigrants, those that we let in should be beneficial to our country and our economy. This is an approach to immigration that used to be standard in our country. Only recently has immigration been viewed as an act of charity rather than a tool for improving our nation.
