One of the most unapologetically liberal news sources in the world today is Vox. Now – like every other news source that is even moderately liberal – Vox has set their sights on the NRA.
As you might expect, the resulting video is so full of holes in logic and skewed facts that it’s hard to even take it seriously. However, Steven Crowder did take the video seriously, and offered an applause-worthy, in-depth rebuttal of all its faults.
The main gist of the video is that the NRA is not a civil rights group, and rather a lobbying group that supports the interests of gun manufacturers and lines the pocketbooks of politicians in order to ensure those interests are upheld in Washington. This, of course, ignores the fact that the NRA has 5 million members whose rights they fight for. It also ignores the fact that the NRA donates a relatively small amount of money to politicians, especially when compared to special interest groups such as labor unions and Planned Parenthood.
The power of the NRA is and always has been their ability to mobilize their large base behind the cause – not the money they receive and especially not the money they donate. The idea that the NRA is powered by grassroots activism, though, is not one that fits with the leftist narrative and is nowhere to be found in Vox’s video.
