At one time, the American Civil Liberties Union was one of the most unbiased, morally upright champions of human rights in the world, fighting for the freedoms of disparaged groups and individuals regardless of their political affiliation.
Today, though, like far too many of our once-proud organizations, the ACLU has been hijacked by the far left and turned into yet another instrument of political gain. Don’t take it from us though – take it from the former vice president of the ACLU, Michael Meyers.
In an interview with Sean Hannity, Meyers said that he used to be proud of the ACLU for standing up to the mob. Today, though, he says that the ACLU has instead become the mob, using their power and influence to beat those on the political right into submission. Never has this been more obvious than it was when the ACLU released an ad attacking Brett Kavanaugh, throwing aside the presumption of innocence that they once fought so hard for in order to further the political cause of their Democratic masters.
It’s a sad day for the ACLU, and a sad day for America when a former champion of liberty, freedom, and God-given rights turns their back on everything they once stood to become a tool for a group that does not fight for the values they once held dear.
