The left has little common ground with Christianity, choosing to attack prominent Christians far more often than they choose to form an alliance with them. However, there’s one prominent Christian that liberals have embraced whole-heartedly – Pope Francis.
Pope Francis has become a powerful supporter of homosexuality, and has been light on abortion, immigration, and more – in spite of the fact that these directly go against the faith he is supposed to represent. So, when news broke that Pope Francis had helped cover up instances of child molestation taking place in the highest ranks of the Catholic Church, the left was hesitant to throw one of their only Christian allies under the bus.
So hesitant, in fact, that the liberal media has defended Pope Francis following these allegations in a truly appalling manner. Standing up for victims who are sexually abused by men in positions of power is supposed to be one of the cornerstones of the left, yet their defense of Pope Francis shows beyond any doubt that the left is only interested in helping these victims when it is politically convenient.
