The USA Today Hits a Record ‘Fake News’ Low

We’re just going to say this one more time. The Kavanaugh case is a complete mockery of justice. But alas, naming it accurately is insufficient because there is no faithful brief description of the Kavanaugh case that isn’t a cliché.

All of the common apropos descriptions are trite and weak compared to what it really is. The Kavanaugh hearings represent a new low in American political gamesmanship. In fact, as a criminal case, it would not even get out of bed. No self respecting prosecutor would take this case in front of a judge. If he did, he would be lucky if his reputation wasn’t ruined forever.

The only reason the Kavanaugh hearings are able to go on, the only reason they are able to pretend that it’s a legal investigation is the legalistic nature of a confirmation hearing for a seat on SCOTUS.

The truth is these hearings have nothing to do with the legal system. If the people involved decide Kavanaugh did what he’s accused of he doesn’t get the job. That would be bad news for America, but the judge’s life would go on. He would find a good job somewhere else.

The point is it’s not about justice. It’s about power. That’s why all the irresponsible commentary from wingnut media outlets is especially disturbing. They don’t know what’s going on better than anyone else. But they’re not afraid to damn a man who hasn’t even come remotely close to being proven guilty.

Here’s Dan Bongino with a particularly revolting example.
