Oprah Winfrey appears to be gearing up for a run for the presidency in 2020.
At first, there may not seem like there are a great deal of problems with this. After all, Oprah is an astute businesswoman, a very successful entertainer and has had great success in a number of different endeavors that require a high level of competence. On top of that, she is a reasonably good rhetorician — not something politicians have to be great at, but they should have some ability, and Oprah surely has enough.
But there’s reason to believe that she would not be much better than another Barack Obama. After all, while Obama was destroying good jobs while creating terrible ones, killing thousands of people via drone warfare, selling our national security interests out to Russia and Iran while handing military secrets to the Chinese and creating the greatest racial divide since the 1910s – Oprah was entirely uncritical of his administration.
There’s more to the secret life of Oprah Winfrey than just repulsive political partisanship. There is a deep and disturbing secret and not so secret ongoing relationship with Harvey Weinstein. Oprah has been very, very close to Weinstein as well as a number of Hollywood celebrities who have been disgraced in events of the #metoo movement.
Oprah has always harped on about issues of equality, but she must have known, as everyone did, about Weinstein’s horrific indiscretions. Where was she before #metoo?
