In spite of all the doomsday rhetoric that the mainstream media continues to espouse, the US economy under President Trump is still booming. Heading into the midterm elections, this economic boom is by far the best card that Republicans hold to help them maintain control of Congress.
Understanding the importance that the economy has on public opinion of politicians and their subsequent voting choices, Citizens United decided to publish a campaign ad highlighting the many economic triumphs that President Trump has overseen not even two years into his presidency. This add showcases achievements such as record low unemployment, money coming back into the United States from overseas, the benefit that the GOP tax cuts have delivered to middle-class families across the country, and the soaring number of new jobs that have been created.
At the heart of this campaign ad is one single point: if Americans want to continue enjoying the economic success that Trump has been able to deliver so far, shackling him with an obstructionist, Democratic Congress is not the answer. At every turn, Democrats have stood in direct opposition of the policies that have allowed the economy to flourish under Trump, fighting instead for the same failed economic policies that hindered the economy under President Obama. For those who enjoy a robust economy that provides wealth and opportunity to all Americans, the party to vote for in 2018 is an obvious choice.
